The world of Lily Swann, the narrator of the Swashbuckler books, is the Mediterranean Sea in the late 18th century. She lives on the (fictional) island of Santa Lucia, and sails across the sea to Africa, and back towards Malta. The books are set at a time when the world was changing and piracy was coming to an end.
